Kyla La Grange "Cut Your Teeth" Music Video

Just before Christmas I was fortunate enough to work with the gorgeous and talented Kyla La Grange on the set of her new video for the single "Cut Your Teeth". Directed by the talented duo Debbie Scanlan and Liz Adams of De La Muerte Films, they wanted to create something amazing using UV light and paint. The mood boards were bursting with references of skulls, elaborate colours and glowing visuals, it was down to me to interpret it in a way that would translate on film. I spent an afternoon with Kyla scribbling ideas on her face that amounted to a big mess but we kind of new what we were doing. I was extremely lucky that Kyla, Debbie, Liz and the producers at Burning Reel trusted me to pretty much do what I wanted.

If you are ever in need of UV face and body paint Kryolan are the people to call. The paints I used are exactly the same as their legendary Aqua Paints in the sense that they are water activated, mega smooth, easy to blend, all that jazz these are just formulated to work under a black light. I got mine from the Mecca that is Charles Fox in Covent Garden, go there if you haven't already.

I have to say that the blue paint is absolutely my favourite, it glows brighter than all of the other colours and it is perfect for adding highlights and layering over over the other colours. I think the splatters look like little twinkly lights.

For the two backing dancers my amazing assistant Emilie rustled up an amazing sugar skull inspired make up that was rather last minute but I think the result is awesome. Thank you Emilie for being so ace and keeping everyone entertained.

If you haven't seen the video, why not? I have also added links to more of Debbie and Liz's work so you can absorb more of their genius. Enjoy!

Poor neglected Bloggo

"New year, new me" Does anyone else find that to be the most annoying thing people say in the new year? Well I certainly do but deep down we all think that the new year is going to bring new opportunities and amazing things that are going to change our lives but sometimes that is a reality that doesn't quite happen unless you make it happen yourself. I have decided to throw myself into my work wholeheartedly this year after taking a break for personal reasons, I'm back in London with some wonderful projects coming up including working with a well known brand and some recognisable faces. I am surrounded by amazing, talented friends that have only ever pushed me to do my best so that is what I'm going to do, my very best, to succeed in this mad industry and not to worry so much about, well, pretty much everything.
